OK, I've watched 2 of the new series without LIz. I'm sorry she's no longer doing the show. She always seemed like the one on the show that was laid-back and had common sense. Alex and Ricky still have everyone else beat when it comes to producing a great show. Thanks, you guys.

I love Marianne's daughter. I just caught a rerun of her first show from 2008 and loved it. She brought a fresh perspective and asked a lot of questions that new quilters wonderful - what is that? why is that called xx? Loved it. That was the only episode that I really loved. I found the other episodes informative but dry. I am very hopeful that future episodes will be exciting and possibly on location from time to time. Thanks for the post - I hadn't heard this.

Why do we need TV quilting shows when we have TQS? I use to watch some of them faithfully until some got away from just quilting and the rest were reruns.

It's the idea that other quilters around the world are watching this same program with me while I have my morning coffee and prepare to quilt all day. Instead, I feel like I should go look at a house or clean mine up for prospective buyers when I am not planning on moving. I admit that I am enjoying the shows on the internet, and I like the ability to rerun parts I need to see again. I'm not ready for this century.

Since they expanded their business / joined QNN I kinda figured this was going to happen. I also think Mary is suppose to attract the younger, newbie quilters. THINGS ARE CHANGING, LADIES.

THAT IS WHY I BUY QUILT DVDs.... I CAN WATCH THEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN.... CHEAPER THAN GOING TO THE MOVIES IF YOU FIGURE IN THE REPEAT VIEWING...... ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM....

Around our house, the only quilting shows on our TV are on Saturday morning beginning at 5:30 am!! (Pokey Bolton's show), then Sewing with Nancy at 6:30 then Fons & porter at 7:30.

I'll bet those cooks don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to see their shows!

This side of the big pond quilting is not seen as a thing of the past. On the contrary. The quilt exhibition that has been at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London for the last few months has been a big success, and I keep hearing that the number of people who take up quilting is increasing.

I think it's a lack of understanding about us by the decision makers who think quilts are a thing of the past. They haven't bothered to research it. Anyway, it makes me more than ever glad of TQS!!!

I share your desire for more quilting/crafting shows on tv. We have only house buying and selling and as you say, cooking, cooking, cooking. The Fine Living channel is now COOK, in addition to the FOOD channel. Have we run thru all the sponsors of crafting and quilting? Have they forgotten that once hooked on a craft we just can't get enough? Are we victims of the recession? I hope not, because we still have money to spend on our favorite things.

I saw a Fons and Porter the other day from their newest series. Liz Porter has decided to retire from the tv series and Marianne's daughter Mary is co hosting this series. I was surprised. I have always been fond of their show even though it is pretty basic usually--it seems even moreso now, though. It's still a quilt show on tv...about the only one left (though Sewing with Nancy sometimes has a quilt theme). Something to record and watch without a lot of concentration while I putter around. Almost all the how to do things shows have disappeared in this area (DC suburb). All except cooking...they have a vast array of cooking cooking cooking.....and I'm trying to lose weight!!!
