Margo, Now I KNOW I am not gonna buy one. That was too funny and too sad. Thanks for sharing the Pioneer woman's blog.

Okay, here's two reasons, you can show all your friends pictures of your quilts and they don't have to squint to see them. And, you can watch The Quilt Show on it through either WiFi or 3G.

My DH gave me the 3G/64GB version for birthday earlier this month. I thought I would miss the keyboard because I kept thinking of it as a laptop. I do miss being able to load EQ7 on it but I just downloaded Sketchbook Pro for $10. I have been practicing machine quilting patterns on it. Could never do it with the laptop, maybe with the new HP tablet. I also had no trouble watching one of the recent shows (using the hotel wireless) and netfliks worked great. I also have it at the breakfast table to read the morning paper since they have gone out of business here.

My reasons for getting an iPad are many. First is the ability to read books on it. Next is to take it with me on my cruise this summer. My last cruise I took my laptop. iPad ( 1 1/2 lbs ) will be so much lighter weight in my carry on bag! I also want it to put my TV shows and movies on it. Lighter weight and easier to hold than my laptop while sitting on the sofa. Then there are is the App store! Fun stuff to be had there!

I did not want the 3G. I got a wireless hookup from Apple and plug the internet we have through our phone company into that. Now I am truly wireless. I password protect my network so no one else can use it. Other reasons for not wanting the 3G is AT@T doesn't work in our area and no need to subscribe to another internet connection anyway since we have DSL at home and 3G will be using cell phone towers.

Ok..... More than you probably wanted to know? ;-)

Curious....how many of you have one and what are you doing with it?

I'm mostly just turning greener by the day and looking for reason why I MUST have one................

which would be very counterproductive to my effort of having LESS instead of MORE!
