TOPIC: Monofilament Thread

Well I haven't quilted with monofilament in the bobbin but when I do machine applique with it I use a quilting/stippling needle (small needle) and set my tension almost to "0". But I started at a higher number and just kept lowering it until my machine was "happy"!

I'd love for those of you that are successful with monofilament to talk about your tension settings and needle sizes. I always forget & my samples take so long to set up to perfection that I give up.

Yep, I use it on the bottom when I don't want the bobbin thread to show.

I've done it too and it worked pretty well.

Yep -- I've done it! I did my entire 2008 BOM by machine and used Superior monofilament in both the top and bobbin. It worked great!

Monofilament Thread 27 Sep 2009 18:30 #38779

Has anyone ever used Superior Polyester Monofilament in both the needle and the bobbin? I heard someone on television the other day say that they use clear monofilament in the bobbin. I hope I heard them right. I use monofilament a lot in the needle and when I can not match the thread to the fabric on the backing, it would come in very handy to be able to use the clear thread.
