I paid someone to make videos from the film, and VCR tapes of my family converting them into DVDs. It was expensive but worth it.

I want to learn how to do it for multiple reasons... 1/ save my daughter's childhood for her kids... 2/ I find it interesting... 3/ If I ever get good at it I will do it for others... family, friends and maybe as an income from home after retirement.

Ladyrags, I feel your pain. Hubby bought a camcorder (JVC also) last year, with the intention of my learning how to use it. He is very tech ignorant and unwilling to learn new things (he still pays for AOL access to internet even though we don't need it, because he doesn't want to learn a new format)! I used the camcorder to tape his daughter's wedding, and have had a devil of a time getting it transfered from the tape to the computer then onto a disc that can be used in a DVD player.

I got myself a camcorder for Christmas ( JVC) and today bought a DVdirect (Sony) DVD recorder.

I have been trying to make video movie DVDs on my computer but I have not been able to do it. Apperently I have the wrong type of DVD recorder. They play on a computer but they do not play on DVDs...I have been trying for months to get this done.

I finally got my videos to DVD using the new DV-direct DVD recorder. After ruining a number of disc and pushing every combination of buttons I finally got a DVD that works on my DVDs. The instruction manuals were next to useless... WRITTEN IN GEEK SPEAK and making no sense at all. I think they will also work on my M-I-L 's DVD player. I feel I have finally joined the technology generation.

Next I plan to conquer the movie editing software but that might take a couple of months.
