I went to the Davison Guild to hear a lecture on Quilt Alliance's effort to get quilt documentation of all the quilts they can... goal is 50, 000 by 2009.
There is a push in several states, Michigan among them. to register the provenance of as many antique and new quilts as possible. Michigan (MSU) Quilt Museum is sponsoring this in MI ... any quilt by any quilter can be registered. There is an online way to register the quilt or a package of paper can be filled out. Pictures of the quilt are to be included.
This is for everyone not just the QUILT DIVAS AND QUILT STARS .... This effort is to make it easier to provide a database on quilts for future generations. I strongly urge everyone to register their quilts on completion. I think our quilts are worth registering ... Don't YOU?
AT QUILT INDEX you can also look up information on your states Quilters.... your friends and relatives you never know. If your state is not listed start listing it and push your state's quilt guild the help sponsor a formation of a database.
If you have time take a look at the web pages ... they can be fascinating.
