No change on Jordan. They have tried to lay him down to do tests but the pressure in his brain keeps rising and so they can't do much. They did a mobile CAT Scan and said there isn't much change from the first one. That is about all I know. DD#1 is back at home trying to work when she is exhausted and fretful. DD#2 will probably stay until the weekend and if there is no change go back home as she also needs to be working.

Ritzy, thinking about your DD#2. Haven't noticed a f/u on that. How is her step brother doing?

Glad Morgan is doing well! Praise God.

Judy, wondering about your daughter and moving to new school. Scarry.....both my daughters are teachers and I wish I could say they have never had a threatening situation, but it would be a lie! One actually had school security on watch for a certain parent who had threatened my daughter because of a reading evaluation that the parent didn't like! That was years ago, but still a vivid memory for me!

Rachel - The speech thearpist is the one who spoke to me about adding the thickening to mom's liquids. Mom is one of the patients she works with at breakfast and lunch to make sure they eat their food properly. They can no longer retain what they are being told but they eat as a group so they can be reminded.

I am praying for all of you especially little Morgan. Sx is never easy for lil ones or thier parents. I am glad to hear that kevin is doing better. As for our Alzhiemer loved ones, it is never easy when the body starts acting up. Thickened fluilds, or altered textured foods can be expected at these times. I know it is awfully difficult to see this happen. My best advise is to consult a speech therapist. They are specialist who know the best way to treat your loved one and how to react in case of an emergency. For those of you who have loved ones looking for work; How's it going?
I hate to sound so general but I am shaking and we are about to have a thunder storm so I want to submit this and turn off the machine :? Still out here

Yeah I was really restless today. It seemed there was so many things happening on this thread. I kept sneaking on all day to see if anything was happening. Glad to hear all went well with Morgan's and Kevin's surgeries. Make sure everyone washes their hands who treat them. Will still pray of course for their recoveries.

Thank you all for your prayers! Morgan's surgery went very well and she's back to her old self! She will go back in two weeks for a couple of tests to make sure the surgery was successful and then we're in the clear! I blogged about it if you'd like more details....

Thank you all again for your prayers!

Prayed for all the requests as I read them above this post. I'm reminded with the worries and concerns that each of you (us) has and that in the midst of our every day lives, a crisis can develop - and for that space and time, the rest of the world goes away.

That is life. And God is GOOD, ALL of the time!

Lynn

I'm also thinking of little Morgan today, and praying that the surgery is successful. Also praying for Mom!

Our "baby," (at 30!), had his surgery last night to clean the infection out of his knee joint. The wound will be left open to drain and heal from the inside-out. They are doing tests to determine what kind of infection it is. Looks like he'll be laid up for 3 weeks; he was supposed to give a big presentation today! (That's not going to happen). Thank you for your prayers.

Thinking of little Morgan today. My nephew Kevin has not had anymore seizures but they haven't completed all the tests yet. The doctor said it could be a stroke (he shows no signs of that now), a form of epilepsy, or diabetes. I never even thought of diabetes but my mother is diabetic and so was her mother. He is doing fine right now but of course we want to know what is wrong.

Mom has been having trouble drinking liquids, she coughs and gets strangled. Last week they started thickening her liquids and she accepted them is and is not getting strangled on them. Pray for a cure for Alzehimers.

I am sending up a prayer for "all" of the requests right now. As Ann would say, God is good all the time and all the time, God is good. Elizabeth

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my 2-year-old daughter Morgan. She is scheduled for her kidney surgery tomorrow morning (endoscopic so thankfully there is no cutting involved -- but she still needs general anesthesia). Hopefully this will fix her up for good and since she's still so young she'll probably never remember it happened. Thank you friends and please know that I keep you all in my prayers as well.

moving your parent 25 Aug 2008 20:03 #24893

It is so hard to become the parent to your parent. You are making a good decision (IMHO) but it is never easy. My brother and my Mom made a different decision which I was never comfortable with but I was not around and didn't have to deal with the issue. You need to hold your ground and things will work out. Life is hard but you have to do what works for you. Keep the faith. Hugs, Ann

The Prayer List 25 Aug 2008 19:45 #24890

I am requesting prayer for my mother and myself. My mother will be 86 years old next month. My father passed away 2 1/2 years ago. Mom cared for him through a long period of illness and depression. Since he died, her depression and anxiety have increased tremondously. She lives about 45 minutes away from me.

In the spring I felt that God spoke to me about my mother buying the house down the street from us and moving to be nearby. I still believe that. I have been very careful about presenting the idea to my mother, making it clear that it is her decision. She agreed to proceed.

All summer she has been worrying if this is the right thing or not and depressed because she does not want to leave her home. The closing on buying the house is this Friday. This is tearing her apart and me, too, even though I still think that this is the right thing to do. Please pray us through this major change in our lives.
Thanks, Joyce
