DH just reminded me of another Pet Peeve. This is a trait he shares with his DD that flamed stepmother/stepdaughter wars. I guess she came to it honestly (inherited and role modeled).
I can say something such as, "you left the light on in the bathroom." There is always an excuse as a reply that involves me and shifts the root cause of the problem to ME! In this case his reply could be, "You told me breakfast was ready and I didn't want to make you wait." Huh
?
Today I do the laundry. He has a habit of spilling stuff on his polo shirts (usually greasy) and I need to pre-treat the stain before it goes in the wash. The other day we went out and when I got a good look at him as he sat across from me on the train, I saw his shirt was spotty. I was embarrassed
. I asked him to please let me know before he throws a stained shirt in the clothes basket that I need to treat it. Of course, I checked all the shirts before I put them in the washer and, of course, some needed pre-treatment. I reminded him, gently, that I had asked him to tell me. "Oh well, you were in a hurry to take the machine to the Bernina dealer."
