Rachel, I just told my DH that I am going to try your method with his pants! I do not understand how he always gets stuff on his khaki pants! Don't know if I'd be brave enough to do that, but it sure made me smile :-)

Remember Roseanne Barr's early days as a standup comic and domestic goddess? She used to say that the uterus has a tracking and homing device.

Rachel! From now on I am going to carry a scissors with me. :D

PS...I get that kitchen excuse too. Is it a genetic thing? Part of the Y chromosome?

Rachel, VERY GOOD! I like that!

And Eileen, I know what you mean about the kitchen!! Anything out of the ordinary, he doesn't know... like it hasn't been there since forever? or maybe it's a pitcher, a good guess would be that hole there on the shelf with the OTHER pitchers! My BF is a caterer & she's got this magic way of knowing her way around ANYONE's kitchen!

I made my point with the pretreating to my hubby long ago when he neglected to tell me one too many times about spilling grease on his good shirt. We were at a wedding and I had noticed it before leaving the house thank goodness so I let him put it on but did grab another shirt. I was a new one so I knew it had not been stained yet. Well when we got out of our car I said "urgh I can not look at that stain all day it is an eye sore, it sticks out like a sore thumb" So I pulled out scissors and cut it out. There much better and started walking away. He stood there with this dumb look on his face then yell I can't go in there like this.To which I replied why it blends better then that stain. If you aren't going to tell me about the stains then I am going to start cutting them out. Then I handed him the new shirt and told him to try not to stain it and if he did let me know. What do you know. Not only does he do laundry now but he no longer stains his shirts.
Rachel
Ps I hated that shirt anyway

Libbi,
I understand completely!! My DH does exactly the same thing and he carries it to putting stuff away in the kitchen-"I wasn't sure where you keep it now and I didn't want to make a mistake". I haven't changed most of the kitchen in almost 20 years.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! :x :x :x

DH just reminded me of another Pet Peeve. This is a trait he shares with his DD that flamed stepmother/stepdaughter wars. I guess she came to it honestly (inherited and role modeled).

I can say something such as, "you left the light on in the bathroom." There is always an excuse as a reply that involves me and shifts the root cause of the problem to ME! In this case his reply could be, "You told me breakfast was ready and I didn't want to make you wait." Huh  ?

Today I do the laundry. He has a habit of spilling stuff on his polo shirts (usually greasy) and I need to pre-treat the stain before it goes in the wash. The other day we went out and when I got a good look at him as he sat across from me on the train, I saw his shirt was spotty. I was embarrassed  . I asked him to please let me know before he throws a stained shirt in the clothes basket that I need to treat it. Of course, I checked all the shirts before I put them in the washer and, of course, some needed pre-treatment. I reminded him, gently, that I had asked him to tell me. "Oh well, you were in a hurry to take the machine to the Bernina dealer."

Thanks for the tip on the browser. I will submit it to my IT administrator (DH) who has final authority on such matters.

I love it! I guess I am my family's "IT administrator". Nice!

About family, we moved 100 miles from family about 20 years ago. It's close enough and far enough away. Last year, the females decided we should have a "girls' night out". They emailed all of us asking which dates were good. I submitted two dates as being not good for me. They picked one of those dates! Six months later they did it again! I reluctantly went. The next date they picked is the same weekend as a local quilt show. I told them I couldn't make it as I always look forward to this show. I was made fun of for my choice. Why would I want to spend time with "adults" who make fun of me?

My pet peeve is that we have a wedding to attend tomorrow - yep July 3rd -- take off work and the drive is about 2 hours and right now the wedding has topped 40K and they were too tight to have it on a Saturday when it was convenient for everyone. It is one of those events where you have to be impressed. Plus, we have to take my DH - 82 year old father -- who doesn't like me -- the only good thing is that my other niece is brewing beer and believe me I am going to have one!

Otherwise everyone have a good 4th of July!

It is so nice to see that other did not get to choose their family either. I love it when my sister calls on a Friday in September to say her daughter will be in for the weekend and what time Saturday was I having her granddaughter's birthday party. A couple of years ago I finally learned to say NO!

Mandy

That Sounds just like our family reunion last year,we drive for hours (4) to get there to spend time with everyone and there are groups that stay off to themselves to socialize only with each other, its kinda of funny because it's the same line they think theyre better or some thing, "I don't know". You always have to go over to them to socialize they wouldn't budge off thier behinds to talk to you. I always try to socialize with everyone but when I took note of this - I made them talk to me!! LOL! I TOOK ACTION, I got on to them all and I told them about it,((It has changed since then!LOL!)) My Aunt told me she was backwards and shy ,that was a line of crap I told her,I said; "no" you choose who you want to socialize with and were all family, well you can do this if you like, but I make an effort to be apart of the complete family. It was so funny they sat Grandmaw right out in the "middle floor" of the tables! I'm like what the heck is this, she wasn't sitting near a table just out in the middle of the floor. I had one of those "Me moments" and got my quilts out to show grandmaw and she just smiled and says there pretty,She would rub across the patterns. She had abit of old timers disease,She passed away that following summer. We didn't have the reunion that year. Look out this August!
I'm not one to think I'm better or privledged (SP) I may not be as pretty or as educated but look out world Kathy does has alot to offer. Really what gets me is they are all Christians,in thier eyes I guess were Hellians,LOL! God has smiled down on me blessings big and small and believe me I do have that relationship. I can't stand people who think God only belongs with them in relationship.
It helped alot speaking out about this to afew "the ones that wouldn't remove themselves off thier behinds, its like ya wanna be a family or not, I can visit my family and not drive so far to do it. ""Everyone trys to socialize with each other now"". So you may need to do the same tell em good. It sure makes for a better "family" reunion. Show the Love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Blessing ya all,Kathy
