This has been a fun week. I basted, quilted, and bound that charity quilt, and also my buddy Doris came over and we finished the simple dress that we had started a while back for her. She did almost all the sewing on some of my treadle machines--she's thinking she wants to buy one, so was trying different ones to see which one she liked best. The dress turned out really nicely and looks great on her. We worked on it Wednesday, Thursday, and today in the afternoons. My mom helped with the sleeves. Years ago, she took the Bishop classes and knows how to do things right. And we used the Elmer's school glue instead of pins for everything but the sleeve seams--it worked so well, much nicer than pins, and nothing shifted. Love that glue, thanks, Sharon Schamber.

Phooey, probably no sewing again today. My side has been hurting all week. I had what looked like a small bug bite but by Tuesday night there was a lump under it. I saw the doctor on Wednesday and he said it was an infected cyst. He put me on antibiotics and wanted to see me again today. So this morning he numbed the spot and lanced it. So I'm on pain meds and taking it easy through the weekend. I will probably print out my foundations that I prepared the muslin for and figure out the strips that I need to cut, but that's probably about it, depending on how I am feeling.

Well today is Friday, I am going to try to take my vacation. It seems I am a week behind in my work. But I have major plans to clean my studio (akaBasement), cut out projects, Dr. appts., painting and staining my new doors, putting a new quilt on the rack, maybe painting the one wall in the dining room  . Let's see if or how little I can get done, only because there is dh in the mix.

I finished the trapunto, with for some reason one corner motif giving me problems. Now it is time to stipple and get the edge fans stitched down. From there it is the home stretch with binding and label. WOOO HOOO! THere is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Debbie, no I don't belong to a local guild. I looked into the clamshell and thamesvalley guilds, but there was always something happening those nites.. Kids schedules change this year, so I might have a chance at joining. I am an honorary member at my sisters guild in Milfor Pa. I participate when ever I am in town visiting. In fact there is a guild trip to a show in 1 1/2 weeks that i have been going to for the past few years. Cheryl

Well 4 Dr's in 3 days but I did manage to do a stint at a fabric shop. :D I got some great fabric enough for at least 3 small wall hangings. I wanted to make them for christmas presents. I am also going to try my hand at fabric art. My son wants a dragon quilt. So here goes. I bought some muslin. I thought I would sketch a dragon on it and go from there. While I was at the fabric shop though it was funny. There was this guy behind me waiting for upholstery fabric to be cut. Anyway every fabric that I wanted cut was already cut just a little longer then what I had asked for by a quarter to a third yard. It was funny he said it was a good thing I wasn't fussy. I told him I was a quilter we love our stash.

Yesterday was good--I finished quilting the Quilts for Heroes quilt and got the binding on, so it's ready to go to a wounded soldier when our group takes a batch to the VA hospital or Fort Hood or wherever they decide. Today I really need to start on quilting another of the twin size Quilts for Kids ones.

Well, I am back to work, :( have way to much work to do. I have however set up projects for me to cut, I think I made up 10 new packages to cut and sew. Hopefully next week I can start. I cut everything out at once, so I can sneek a day here and there to sew :) . I'm 3 days behind because I had to unsew four blocks because the tension on the back was waaaaaaay ooffffff  believe you me I am the master of unsewing, four blocks -three days of ripping. l am on my way again, though. hopefully no more set backs. Keep sewing ladies. Debbie

Cheryl, I see you don't live to far from me. Do you go to any quilt guilds around here. I live in jewett city. Wow. Debbie

Well, an hour here and there, I have been able to get half of the trapunto done. Kyle was off to school today at 6:40 AM and Melissa will be starting tomorrow at about the same time. WOW it is going to be really quiet early in the morning. THen I should be able to do some marathon quilting and get this baby done.

ON a side note my Son passsed his written test for his license and has his appointment for the driving portion in Oct.

It's a beautiful day here in Ct. CHeryl

I got some quilting related stuff done today finally. I washed and pressed 10 half-yard cuts of fabric for my next take along quilt. Since I am doing a demo on foundation piecing by hand at the show at the end of next month, and I finished my last project at the beginning of this year, I need to get started on my next one. So I got the fabric pressed and numbered so I remember which one is which. Then I got 12 muslin pieces ironed to freezer paper so I can run them through the printer. I eventually need 30 of them. So maybe tomorrow I can get some of those printed and get started on sewing them so I have something to show.

I ended up with the afternoon off work today as I was feeling punky.... So I took a long nap then went out to the mail box and had great surprise. The DVD I ordered last seek... Kool Kaleidoscopes was in the box. I also got the free DVD from Fons and Porter GONE APQS QUILTING it is an infomercial but it is really great. They demonstrated all kind of techniqes and free information that could be applied to home quilting. They showed the GEORGE mid arm... I would love one of those... I know exactly where I would put it in my house. $$$$$

I watched the K.K dvd now I wam going to watch Grand Finale... sometimes it is OKAY to have the DH working evenings.... I get control of the DVD player and the remote control....

Just got back from quilting, and I got two more twin-size tops pin basted and ready to quilt. I just LOVE basting with those boards, no back or neck pain, no sore knees.

I feel for you and have the same problem...I start reading this forum, checking folks profiles/quilts, following up on blogs and links......and before you know it the moring and/or afternoon that I had wanted to use sewing is gone! RATZ! I am going to try to set a time limit for myself for the computer. Like an hour for initial check in early am (emails and "must see" sites) with a timer set to try to keep me honest. Then a couple of peaks in at lunchtime and late afternoon break time. I better set that timer for those too or time will get away from me. I already feel withdrawal symptoms setting in just thinking about doing this! ARRGG! Sally in NE Ohio (stepping away from the laptop to get on with her life...looking back sadly)

DO THE SEWING FIRST AND USE COMPUTER TIME AS A REWARD FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT.....

Make small breaks in your sewing time and set a clock for when you use the computer.... (in another room) when the clock rings .. get off the internet collection and sew some more....
