TOPIC: Quilting with Confidence

Kathy, this is why I'm still taking classes after making my first quilt in 1962. Someone is always coming up with a better way to do things, and I want to know about it.

Quilting with Confidence 14 Mar 2008 16:34 #15493

I just watched a quilt show sewing with Nancy, quilting with confidence. I have been quilting for years and I have never learnt alot of the short cuts when piecing quilts together. I've done alittle chain piecing.
I have always cut my trim pieces for my blocks at the exact measurements,Sewing the trim onto blocks one at a time. Sewing your blocks onto long pieces of trim its like chain piecing the blocks to the trim. "It does save alot of time"
Sewing several different colors of 2-3 inch trim together and then cutting them at an angle for binding, was a great idea too.
Kathy will be sewing all her blocks by chain piecing them to long strips of trim fabric from now on.
I'm still learning alot of the short cuts, and they're all great.
If anyone has any other short cuts or tricks up thier sleves let us know. "I was amazed with all the different short cuts" I know their are many that I don't know of, (It's like why didn't I think of that)!
This is why we have such great quilt teachers.
