Way back in 1986, I had bunions removed on both my feet at the same time. The night before the surgery, I finished basting a large Lone Star quilt. The surgery was done outpatient, and when I got home that night, I wanted to start quilting, but since I'd had a lot of medication, DH said, "Wait until tomorrow," and I did. But the next morning, I found that I could hand quilt lying on my back with my feet up on a huge pile of pillows. Over the next 6 weeks, I did get that whole quilt hand quilted, working for hours every day, still with my feet up on all those pillows. When the hoop needed to be moved, DH did it for me, bless his heart. I still have the quilt. It's called Midnight Rainbow With Amish Ancestors, and there's a pic of it on my webshots page in the quilts album.
