As you say Susan the technology is amazing.

Hi Anne,

Many sewing machines, including my 1970 Singer Futura, has an overlock stitch and will do a chain stitch. I'm embarrassed to say that I just recently learned that my machine does a chain stitch, and can think of the many times over the years that I could have used it. If only I had taken the time to figure out what all of my special feet did and read my manual for all of the features. Actually, I probably did when my machine was new and had no use for those things at the time. So, before anyone goes out and buys a specialty serger, they might want to check if their existing machines have the features they need.

Alcohol and Q-tips, lots of them. One time I found an earring in the depths of the printer. Hmmmm. I don't really take the printer apart apart, I just open it up as far as I can & run the swabs over every surface that has ink on it until the swabs collect no more ink including on the jets which of course the manual says NeveR to touch. Ha. What have we got to lose? streaky printing, hopefully.

BJ, I've bookmarked a new Epson similar to one you suggested on Amazon. Actually, the "see newer version" listed is over $100 less expensive. I wish we could get high-capacity ink cartridges off Amazon. Is yours a wide format printer? That in itself is very attractive, as is Wi-Fi printing, but I just bought a whole round of cartridges for my current printer, which is only a couple of years old. I think I'd better use them up first...a few days at most. :( :(

I haven't had time to watch the show yet, but will tomorrow.
Susan, how did you go about cleaning your printer. My has lines or skipped areas across the page. It is an Epson and I have tried running the cleaning program. It helped a little, but not much. I ran the cleaning program several times. When we get home from Texas I will try taking mine apart. I just wasn't sure what to clean and what to clean it with. Alcohol?

I agree, this was one of the best shows. I think I will buy the software...it's not terrible expensive to start, at least. Sue, did you get your printer to run its cleaning program...most printers have one. I just replaced my printer this year. My old one literally fell apart!
I like the one I replaced it with an Epson all-in-one...http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&sku=C11CA96201 It cleans itself every now and then.

Just watched this show and am blown-away with the technology. I'm curious to find out how many add-ons we need to the basic software to get all of those cool affects.

Additionally, has anyone purchased a printer, lately, that gives flawless fabric printing? I need to take mine apart & clean the insides to prevent streaking. Yeh, yeh, I know it's not recommended, but what's to lose? I've done it before, and am hoping it will work again. I wish ink wasn't so danged expensive.
