I also would love to see Tom Russell on the show. I first saw him on Simply Quilts where he made a great little quilt for a challenge. I loved that quilt and I've seen some members have taken a class with him and done that same quilt. I would love to make one like that with my 12 year old granddaughter. I've tried to get her into quilting but I can't seem to keep her interest. That quilt looks like something that might appeal to her artistic side. I do more traditional quilts and she gets kinda bored with that style but that might be the one that would win her over. Quilting is my addiction and I would love to get her hooked too.
Living in TN, I was blessed to know Tom, personally and as a Quilting teacher. We miss him here since he moved to TX. You couldn't ask for a better teacher . Tom 's classes are always fun and he inspires any student that is lucky enough to know him. Would love to see him on an episode of the Quilt Show. He could demo his beading techniques and share some of his quilts.
I just did a delightful class with Tom - who is a delightful guy! Great sense of humor - about himself also! He is a very good teacher - but his real gift is his 'color sense' which I'm sure is why he is a graphic designer by education and that is what he does when he isn't quilting.
He doesn't have a website but here is a pic of him and a short history of his quilting. Don't know what the date is. http://www.apqs.com/artists_tomr.php
I'm sure Ricky and Alex know him and many of you also!
