TOPIC: Show # 408

19 Apr 2009 22:16 #34496

I agree with what Janblock said. I subscribed to TQS because of Alex and now I know Ricky, Justin & John, too. Loved this show and love and appreciate all of you so much! Thank you!

I must confess to not quilting on a large scale for quite a number of years but I have a bed in the guest room that looks bare. As I have both male guests and female guests I wanted something understated and have been quite excited by the neutral colours in Alex's book.

I have done a few sample blocks for the Stars and Pinwheels quilt already using some pale blues and greens in there too but what I really liked about this quilt the most was the way the blocks were put together as a whole! Great idea to shift the strips around!!

It was really great to see the whole thing come to life on the screen this episode too. :D

I loved the show and now have decided to try a neutral quilt for my summer quilt in our bedroom. I love watching TQS and checking out all the great info on the site. Alex, you are a doll! I get the giggles watching you, you are so real, and wonderfully goofy! (Did I mention you are an excellent teacher as well??) Thanks for introducing me to a new addiction - quilting!

I finished watching this show last night. I enjoyed it very much. I really liked having our 'hosts' be the guests. That little iron is so cute too. I just got my fabrics from Alex's Whispering line yesterday afternoon and they are so gorgeous. I put them all out on my extra table and have been just enjoying the eye candy. I really enjoyed the segment on the Boy's Town guild as well. It is wonderful hearing about the special things that quilting groups do. Thanks for another great show. Sandi in FL

I watched & enjoyed the show and will re-watch tomorrow. Alex is such a gracious lady and very down to earth in her approach to quilting...that is what inspired me to follow her on HGTV and then to join TQS when I heard about it. It has been a wonderful find in my life and my DH speaks about how my passion for quilting has grown and my results are better and better since becoming involved with TQS. Thanks to you Alex and also to Ricky.

Alex's comments 15 Apr 2009 14:56 #34383

I really enjoyed Alex's show. I was one of the people who told her how much I missed her HGTV show and she asked me if I belonged to TQS. I didn't at that time, but I got busy after I talked to her and joined. I hope this makes Alex feel better about people asking about the old show. I really enjoy the TQS shows and all the features of the website. It's much more interesting than the magazines I get, read once, then toss in a pile, and I feel I get much more bang for my buck.

I agree with everything everyone has said. However...if SQ hadn't been cancelled we wouldn't have TQS. I guess everything happens for a reason.

If HDTV execs had even HALF a brain, (though their scheduling choices lead us to believe otherwise), they would issue DVDs of Alex's show for sale. They would sell by the thousands. And, by the way, I looked, and there's NO cash in my attic....just mouse droppings.

I ditto this and the other comments. I subscribed to this site from the beginning due to Alex's Simply Quilts on HGTV. I didn't know Ricky at the time, but now I'm honored to feel I really know both of them through The Quilt Show. Thank you so much, both of you.
