I have to agree, I was initially a bit disappointed with this show, from a learning standpoint. It did do a great job of showcasing Elly's personality and her unique perspective on her passion. TQS is not SQ, where the focus was on teaching a specific specialty of the guest, but it's hard to not expect that each time! This one wasn't bad, IMHO, but just a bit different...can't wait for the next one on Monday! Nancy
I too was a little disappointed with this show.....I had the pleasure of taking workshops from her years ago when we lived in Washington DC...
It was rather difficult to really see what she was trying to show us and one had to have some knowledge of applique techniques in order to get it.....I enjoyed the interview part but rate this episode as the weakest thus far.
cheers

Prior to the show, I had never heard of the guest speaker, but had high expectations based on comments from other TQS members. While viewing the show, I found the explanations of the applique techniques a little difficult to follow. So this show was just okay for me.
i am sorry to say i was quite disappointed in the show,i had waited so long for her to come on and i had expected to sew more of her applique techniques. may be they could see about having her on again.
The show was excellent. Elly sienkiewicz is an excellent teacher, historian and person. The quilts displayed were beautiful and inspiring. I just returned from The Applique Academy and thought it was outstanding.
What a cutie pie she was!!! This is one of my all time favorite shows. I so enjoyed looking at her amazing quilts. She is such an artist. This makes me want to run right out and get one of her books so I can start the first block on my own Baltimore Album Quilt.
Thanks for sharing Elly!!

I really liked the show too. I was surprised to realize that I've been working on a quilt from her Baltimore Elegance book that was a UFO for over a year. The blocks are so small that I had to make so many. I'm going to applique some borders too. I like knowing that they are making a bunch of these quilts for the special exhibition and I'll have one of my own. I'll post a photo after I finish the borders; could be quite a while though!
I am sorry to say...this was the first show that didnt do it for me I all the other shows I have learned something thet could give my quilting a OMPFH...but this didnt. BUT if someone had a blass and fun I am with u!!!!! I just LOVE anything that would give someone a omhp and a umf;)
I loved this show too. I could watch Miss Elly night and day. I love her work.....I have many of her books. There are a few out of print books that are priced way out of my league.
This was a wonderful show. I finished and turned right around and played the whole thing again. Plus I rewound to watch Elly's stitching demos. This was such a treat. I had forgotten how delightful Miss Elly is. Oh and if I could only applique like that!!! Shame on Captain Ricky for giving Mistress Elly the vapors!
