That's funny, Beth! Actually, there is a sports commentary program that my DH watches and there is one of those tacky leg lamps in the background! I kid you not!!!!

(DH says it's on "Pardon the Interuption" on ESPN)

Is this lamp like the "leg lamp" in A Christmas Story??

Tee hee!

Lorchen, that's funny! Me and lamps have been having a problem this year too - I've knocked over and broken 3 of them and I hardly had sufficient lighting to begin with. They should be so easy to fix but I'm not doing so well figuring it out.

I'm sure Alex has enough lamps. But I'm greedy and I broke a lamp a couple of weeks ago by turning around too quickly when the phone rang, swiping it off the table with my bum. Seeing that Ricky is coming to the UK soon he could pop it into his luggage and hand it over at 'Festival of Quilts'. I'd promise to put it in a place where my butt can't reach it. :)

Alex should take the lamp home and use it as inspiration to make a quilt that could be taken to Houston and other big shows for TQS members to sign..... imagine 50,000 quilters signatures on one quilt - or if that is too many (= BIG quilt) then how about just charter members. It would be a great piece of history about the show.

The lamp on the old set that sits on the table between where the quest sits and where Alex sits. They are trying to get rid of it, Alex wants to keep it; everyone else is making suggestions as to what to do with it.

I think Alex should take her lamp home since she fought for that lamp. It is nice.

So many famous TV sets have been moved and/or recreated for the Smithsonian Institute museum. (Julia Childs kitchen, the Dick Van Dyke Show living room, etc). I think Alex's lamp, those purple couches and those "carnival tent" curtains should take their place next to other noteworthy show sets!!! (Maybe they could have a special installment at the Smithsonian entitled "Show Sets -What Were They Thinking?!?!" or "Lamps that make you go 'Hmmmm?'" or "Bringing The Circus Home"

Okay...I'll stop now. hee hee

I think it ought to be auctioned off for Ami Simm's Alzheimer's Research--I know it won't fit in a Priority envelope, but.....it's a piece of quilting history and it might raise a few $$$.

I think it should stay at TQS and be used as a "bright idea" lamp to highlight a new idea ( ) or tip from a TQS quilter!!

Having the lamp light a segment of the show is a great idea! Or, it could be used like a "Where's Waldo" kind of thing. You know, moved around the set and people would have to find it in different camera shots.
But..................if you want to send it somewhere, I'll send you my address

I love the idea of the lamp lighting a segment of each show. Maybe it could be the tips part shining the light on something new.
