I am with you Rita. I feel so much better when I do it but I don't want to give it the time.

Way to go, Lorchen! But I think rewarding yourself with "fat" quarters sends the wrong message. That's why I think you should get the full yard/meter! :wink:

And taking the stairs, leaving the car parked (or at least taking a parking space farthest from the door), are great ways to incorporate a little exercise into daily life. Takes very little time, doesn't give muscle strains, and makes us feel better almost without noticing. About ten years ago before going on a hiking holiday in Ireland I spent the winter training by just using the stairs at work... Walking up and down four flights with binders, books, whatever numerous times a day gives quite a lot of training... And one gets quicker and less out of breath within a very short time.

Way to go lorchen :wink:

I think that's what Lorchens doing on the stairs. Well done Lorchen, 3 stone is an amazing achievement.

I run up the stairs at work. We're on the second floor so I spend the next 1/4 hr breathless and wheezing :roll: I'd rather do that than 3 days on water! no way I could do that and stay upright.

The idea of FQ's is great!

my cardiologue told me that i dont need to exersie! (even if i want to i cant), he told me, what he does if he wants to lose some weight - he fasts for 5 days only water, i thought then that he is little nut!
but! i saw a documentary on the BBC2 dont remember the name or the name of the person that did this kind of documentary, but what he found that if you eat 2 days a week only 600 calories and the rest of the week the way you eat all the time. you lose weight rapidly and healthy and no need for exersise BECAUSE for more then 95% of the popolation exersice is not influencial at all!!!
i hope it is clear and no spelling mistakes, cheers and have a good time cheers

Go for it! Lose the lbs. Increase the stash!. I want to see that fabric pile up. I'd like to see the quilt that collection would inspire.

Trust me....I am no statistician! For what it's worth, I think you deserve at least a yard per pound, but even a FQ would be a treat! Maybe get all fat quarters that play nicely together and for next Christmas you will have a lovely new stash for a REALLY special quilt! :D

Margo, the Statisticean! Your talents are never-ending! :)

It's the brits who still love their empirical measures in their daily life. At the same time things like new buildings and anything architectural is measured in metrics. I grew up in Germany, so kilos are actually easier for me (starting weight about 159kg, now about 140kg). Because even pounds are confusing. The metric pound, based on kilos, is 500 grams, but the old empirical pound is about 10% less.

Maybe I should treat myself to a yard (US) or metre (UK) of fabric for every pound (doesn't matter which one) that I'm loosing. That would give me a very nice and big stack of new stash (not that I need any new fabric :D ) by - let's say - Christmas 2013. Or I could be less greedy and go for FQs. 8)

Lorchen, That is an amazing accomplishment. Thanks, Margo, for the conversion table. Not only will you, Lorchen, be rewarded with another beautiful stone from Eva (I think that's right? Correct me if I am wrong.) but you will also be better able to keep up with the sorts of the things grandchildren will want grandparents to do. I am sure you are noticing a difference in how you feel. Using the steps is no small matter. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration!

I had to look up the stone/pound ratio and this is what I found:

So you have lost over 42 pounds!! {!-- ia0 -->Applause.gif{!-- ia0 -->

Way to go, Lorchen! One pretty, painted stone at a time!!
