TOPIC: Another ribbon for Stars for a New Day

Re: Another ribbon for Stars for a New Day 03 Jun 2013 07:16 #104560

Oh yea, I was calling it stars because each block had either a big star behind the boquet or little stars in there somewhere. I guess I've lost track which BOM it was!

I wondered if that would confuse people. It's under my show and tell section. Black background, bright colors. It's funny looking back at what I posted when I completed the top, I didn't end up quilting it at all like I thought I would. All by machine, free motion and used lots of colors. Thanks for the kind words. It's so gratifying to enter a show and get recognized. Nancy

Nancy Ann, I can't find your Stars For a New Day quilt on your profile! Can you post a photo of it here?

I entered my quilt, done in a different color scheme, in my guild show in May. It won the appliqué category. I had put off finishing the quilting for so long and am glad I finally finished it! Check out my profile to see it. The pattern is stunning no matter what colors are used.

This thread was started in April and I'm not sure that Sally still checks the forum.

Congratulations! I have seen this quilt in two local shows here in Ontario, and it has won Best of Show at both of them. It would be really interesting to know how many it has won all together! Maybe TQS can pull the data out of the Quilt Gallery postings?

I'm wondering if anyone is still reading this thread. Wanted to share that my Stars for a New Day, completed Feb. 2010, was entered in the
Contra Costa Quilt Guild show in Concord, CA last weekend. It won Second Place in the Traditional category. Yea! It got me wondering if anyone has kept track of how many awards this quilt has won. Seems to me I've seen seen several others say they have won but I can't guess how many. Anyone keeping track? I'm working with all my scraps now to do a block of the month that I first made about 12 years ago. It turns out it was also designed by Sue Garman in 1997 and called The Angel Quilt. I call it Angels Watching Over Us. I gave my daughter the original but will hang this one over my bed with my Stars for a New Day Quilt. Hopefully you'll see pictures one of these days. Sally

Congratulations on your ribbon at the quilt show. I look forward to seeing pictures of your quilt. It sure is a beautiful pattern.

Congratulations Sally! I don't think that anyone is keeping track, but I do know that Sue's design has been an award winner for lots of TQS quilters!
