Kathy, there are lots of ways to make flying geese units. If you are interested, I've posted the way I made mine on my Webshots tutorial. Check it out here:

Hi all -
Don't you just LOVE The Quilt Show?!!! It really is, as Kathy put it, a "party" here on the web. And I love the fact that I can come in my jammies any time of day or night. Woo hoo!!!

Welcome aboard Kathy. This has been such a fun and challenging project. It is so much fun to see how other people are doing theirs. Gloria

Ok, it took me awhile to get the nerve up to do the alternate block because there were sooo many pieces in the block, BUT, omgosh, the block has come out at the right size and it is very cute! I can't take credit for the fabrics, since I bought the kit, but I'm so very glad I made this block!!
I was having a real challenge with paperpiecing such tiny pieces, but I had a blast with the 1 inch squares in the alternate block. I counted the pieces and I believe there are 137 pieces in the block, many of them half square triangles, and it was fun! It didn't take too long to make, since I started the block last week, and I sew for only about a hour a day. I also finished a couple of other BOM's that I worked on, when I wanted something very easy. I can't wait to start the Feb block. I will be converting some the of the 1/2 squares to flying geese, just so that there is less bulk in the quilt. I will post a picture as soon as I figure out how to do so.

Thank you Sue for the challenge, I probably would have never tried anything so intricate, but, since everyone is having such fun, I was determined to join the party. :)

Take care,
Kathy
