TOPIC: Another question about July blocks

July BOM 24 Jul 2009 18:37 #36850

Thanks so much for the reply. There's nothing worse than running out of fabric in the middle of a project, so it's a relief to know that we'll have plenty.

In the current TQS show Episode 502, Alex gives a great tip about cutting the borders from the length of our fabric before cutting the other pieces and losing the fabric length. So, the same should hold true for cutting the floaters, even though we may not know ahead of time the actual length and width we will need. I suppose that we would just need to overestimate a bit just to be safe.

This tip has another advantage for selvedge savers--one long continuous piece of selvedge.

Tammy....I contacted Sue about this. She said:

"The paisley is used in a couple of places in addition to the feathered star and the floaters. Not to worry… they will have plenty of fabric!"

Another question about July blocks 20 Jul 2009 09:34 #36754

I am looking at the fabric requirements for the July blocks and it says we need to use the green paisley. In our fabric requirements for the whole quilt it says that the green paisley is for the feathered star and floaters, nothing about the border stars. Is this going to cause problems with yardage for the floaters? I like that the feathered star fabric is repeated somewhere other than the floaters, I'm just concerned that I'm going to run out. Thanks!

Tammy

p.s. I haven't checked the website to see if this topic has come up somewhere else, so I'm sorry if it's a repeat.
