Terry, according to Sue's directions for February, on page 4 she tells us that the feathered star with the quarter square triangles should measure 21-3/4" (unfinished). Can you square up yours to that measurement? If not, just trim it to be as square as you can get it.
As for the border strips, I'm not sure which ones you are referring to, but Sue gives really good directions to calculate both the length and width of each floater depending on the size your particular quilt turns out to be.
Hope that helps.

Deconstructing back to February on point star 05 Apr 2009 08:59 #34031

My top isn't square. I knew there was a problem when the quarter square triangles because they seemed to big. All my points match on seams except the center square which appeared to be at least 1/8th of a inch too large. Is there a way to measure the center block and determining what size these triangles should have been. Anyone else have this problem? Do you think I could square the block with the set in triangles and correct the problem?

All of my paper piecing has matched perfectly and the points on the traditional piecing have matched as well. This is not my first quilt but is my first paper piecing project.

I am also convinced that my border strips are too large. Were these strips to be cut as 1 1/4 inch wide or 1 1/2?

Any help would be appreciated. In spite of a less than perfect square, the top is absolutely beautiful. I love the monthly project. My problem is I'm working 10 hours a day analyzing financial statements and my old eyes are tired when it comes to reading instructions.
