I learned the hard way, too. I had to redo one of the pieces from the Jan. block so I copied it on the copier. Wrong plan, as it was a tad smaller than the original. So I went back to the computer and reprinted my missing piece. Lessons learned. Judy in AZ

I just learned a lesson that I posted in a different thread. I can get accurate copies from my computer printer, but my fax/copier skews or distorts. Perhaps the copier is the problem. If the top of the "copy" from the copier is inaccurate, the bottom of the page may not be. Check carefully and good luck!

SUE'S RESPONSE:

Okay – here’s the answer. The finished size is a known number – nearly all of the quilt is made using 1” squares or half-square triangles. So… print out the foundation. The finished size of one or more sides should be exactly 1 inch – or 1-1/2 inches or some increment like that. For example, the flying geese finished size will be 1-1/2 by 3 inches. Measure the finished size of the sides and adjust your printer such that the paper prints out the correct size.

Whenever I print out the foundation paper, in order to have the correct size to equal the 1 inch test square, I needed to enlarge the copier setting to 105% which worked out perfectly to the one inch size needed. For the April Stars, the 1 inch test square is not on the 1-inch (finished size) Half-Square Triangles foundations paper. I would be more comfortable to have the test square on all the foundations papers prior to putting sissors to the fabric. :?
