Ok, I can now say that I have paper pieced. I finally figured it out and the pieces looked pretty good. I thought boy am I glad I have finished that and now all I have to do is sew them together. Well little did I know sewing them together was the hard part. I sewed and ripped out and sewed and ripped out until I go so aggravated.
Finally I decided, I'm going to applique mine. And that is just what I did! I may someday try to sew my paper pieced ones together, but right now I'm going to use the appliqued one. I have posted it in Show and Tell.

There's more than one way to skin a cat and you've proved it. Way to go. It's beautiful any way you make it!

I just posted my block on Show and Tell.
I am using Alex Andeson's "Never Enough Romance" line of fabrics.

I did do Paper Piecing, my first real block. Not sure that I am sold on PP. Anyway there it is, it is done and I am happy with it.

I looked thru all the 2009 feathered stars last night and it is amazine how a subtle color change makes a difference. Talk about a show on color choices! Wow!

There are some beautiful blocks already completed. I have now finished mine see-quilts/show-and-tell-quilts/ It's going to be a scrappy quilt. I just need to clear my sewing room floor of all those little pieces of paper now.

Can't wait to do February's blocks

I finally finished my block and posted it last night. I, too, am truly impressed with all the different feathered stars posted. It's unbelievable how different they can look using different colors and textures. It will be fun each month seeing the progression.

Ritzy, my block also came out a bit "short" so I blocked it on my ironing board and let it sit overnight. It ended up the perfect size.

Wow, I am so ready to get started. I am in awe of the colors and the workmanship that I see in the pictures. I am awaiting my thread to start the block. I am tracking the thread on the UPS website like NORAD tracks Santa on Christmas Eve. There has been inclement weather in Utah delaying my little spool who sitting all alone in a box on a UPS plane. I will be tracking my spool until he arrives at his new home in Illinois. I am sure that spool of thread is ready to get working!! I sure am.

Ritzy, awesome block! Love that cat fabric (did you get that at the quilt expo?) Mine came out a little short, also.

Well, I'd printed out the instructions but told myself the BOM would just have to wait a while as I've got quite a bit to do this month...Then I went into my LQS to say Happy New Year yesterday ans somehow or other managed to come home with 4 fat quarters to try out the 1st block with....LOL :)

With all this talk of 'unsewing' I have to ask if any of you have ever used the new electric seam rippers?

My friend told me today she undid 'several' seams the other day that would have taken 45 minutes or so the old way - took her 3 minutes!

She bought a plain old mustache trimmer from WallMart and it works just as well as her 'official' seam ripper she bought at Quilt Festival.

Hmmmmm. My husband has a mustache trimmer
men NEVER can imagine the uses their wives can find for their personal stuff!

Good grief!! I've been asleep at the wheel.
Please accept my humble apology! Here I thought that the forum had been quiet because everyone had gone back to work, but actually I had somehow completely missed this thread that's been running since Friday!!
You're gonna have to dock my pay!!
The posted stars are all amazing, and I'm so glad that everyone seems to be figuring it out.

If you need it, and haven't found it yet, my tutorials are here:

and you can always get to them from my profile page, so just click on my photo anywhere you see it and you can click right to it.

Good job everyone!!!!
