I am new to the Forum and have just started the 2009 BOM. I talked two of my daughters into doing it also. One lives close by but the other is a couple days drive. It is fun to communicate over the internet and this wonderful site. I would like you to see my daughters quilt block she just finished and put up. It is the one with the brown background. I am so proud of both of them for tackling this project. Hopefully I will finish mine tomorrow and get it in the Show and Tell. Thanks Elaine in Montana

Yes I saw the brown and green tones she's using. Beautiful, just like the 2008 BOM, all beautiful and so different. I did have the good fortune to see this quilt done in Houston and my jaw dropped. Sue's choice of colors and prints are stunning. I can't take credit for the fabric, I just handed over my ATM card at the booth.

Hi Elaine, I saw your daughter's BOM and it is beautiful. I love the colors she is using and I can't wait to see yours. How wonderful to have your daughters along for the journey. SandyTN

I just posted my finished feathered star in the Show & Tell. I took it very slowly working on this so I wouldn't make a mistake. When paper piecing, I sometimes sew it the wrong direction. I only ripped out 4 pieces, 2 because I sewed them the wrong direction and 2 because I placed them wrong and they didn't fill the space. I'm very pleased with the final result.

Wow, Denise, you're speedy. I only just decided what colors I want to use and haven't even begun pulling/buying fabrics! LOL. Great job!

I did have to do some "reverse sewing" here and there so don't think it was a breeze. I was thankful to have the day off where I could really concentrate. Doing this block after a full day of work would not have been easy.

Thank you all for your kind words. Oh and what have I been doing since I finished the January block? I'm finished the August 08 block. Yes, I'm still working on 2008. I had a wedding for my DD this fall and just found out she's pregnant!!!! I'm going to have to start planning a baby quilt or 2 or 3.... My first grandbaby and also my SIL's parents will first time grandparents too.

It's been a very eventful week.

Denise, love your block. I have all fabrics cut, and pattern ready to start, I think I will wait till tomorrow. Did do the house in the instructions, as I have not really done much Paper Piecing before. I think I can get it done, Sue's instructions are great, and so are Margo's tutorials.

2009 BOM feathered star block 02 Jan 2009 20:42 #30449

What a beautiful block Denise. Now I know I'm going to do mine tomorrow. I have my patterns printed. I use freezer paper and don't sew to the paper. I sure hope my block comes out as nice as yours.
