Thank you all for such nice comments. I'm thinking of just using nine blocks, too. Just not sure yet. Judy

Judy - Thanks for the nice comments on my top. I checked out your profile and all of your blocks are lovely. I would suggest that you decide how you want to use your quilt and then proceed. I knew from the very first that I wanted a size for a wall hanging and all 12 blocks would be too big to fit my wall space. If you stop now, you could do nine to make a square and then have one with lots of borders for a small wall hanging.

Let us know what you decide and good luck with your decision:)

PS Your feathered star is wonderful - I really love your fabric choices!

Don't stop now, Judy. You only have 2 to go! I have 9 to go and I still plan on doing them all, even the one with all of those tiny circles.

Thanks for the link, Margo. I had to read Sue's blog while I was there:) The cross hatching does look great but I agree that it really would be tedious.

I haven't decided what I'll do yet, Sandy, but I love the look of Sue's cross-hatching. It shows up really well in the picture she has on her blog. Link to it here, and scroll down to September 22. I know that she did hers on a long arm, and she said that it was tedious!

Thanks Margo, have you started quilting your BOM yet? I'm trying to decide if I want to do some cross hatching or something else. I will be machine quilting and when I look at all the starts & stops & turns I wonder if I would ever get it done? :)

Well, I finally have my 2008 BOM done. I have added all of my blocks and the completed top to the Show & Tell.

I only did nine blocks because I wanted a square wall hanging and if I had used all of them I wouldn't hae been able to hang it properly. I added a shaped border with a tiny (Ricky's) piping in between the two colors.

Sue Nickels will be in town and teaching within a mile of me this March. I plan on taking all three of the classes she is offering, which include two on machine quilting & threads and one on fusible machine applique. I will start quilting it after I take her classes. That will give me time to decide how to quilt it and decide if I want to do any special techniques or not.

The 2008 BOM was fun and challenging. It was very difficult for me to decide which blocks to leave out as they were all so lovely.

Thank you Sue and Margo!

I've been looking at everyone's finished BOM tops and all I can say is WOW!!! What beautiful work!!! And, Margo, I can't believe that gorgeous border!!! Lynn, I sympathize with you--but your top will be beautiful when you get those borders on!!! I have to admit that I've been working on my Mistletoe Manor top during the holidays instead of finishing my last two 2008 BOM blocks... It did feel good to finish a UFO, though! :D
