My grandparents were born in Poland, and my father grew up in the Polish community of Maniunk (sp) in Philadelphia. I was fortunate to make the trip with my Dad the year before he died. It was interesting how people didn't mix. There were two Catholic churces/schools on the same corner. One was the Italian CC while the other was the Polish CC. My grandmother was able to live in there speaking only Polish most of her life.

I wasn't the one who mentioned cabbage rolls, but I have a recipe I'd be happy to share - just email me. It uses cabbage, pork sausage, and lots of good 'ol sauerkraut!
I make it for my SIL who has no family left, but he says this is the closest thing to what his dad used to make.
