TOPIC: May Block

15 May 2008 12:50 #18243

Robin-I have been "behind" with the BOM from waiting for the kitted fabric to arrive to the present block! And surprisingly I am not stressed out about it. After 30+ years of quilting, it's about time I've grown up enough to relax and enjoy the process instead of living with constant pressure(from Myself) to be perfect and meet deadlines. I'm just glad I still have the desire to work on this project and do think I will see it through to completion. I am down to the berries on April's block, so in my mind, I still have a shot at catching up before we hit June! Keep a happy thought and enjoy the journey, Sally in sunny(at this moment) NE Ohio

Ass you could read in my new blog (Robin's Ramblings), I have the BOM blues. May is the first month in this year-long process that I am soooooo behind on my block. Too much else going on. I miss the serenity of just sitting and putting tiny stitches in my applique. I don't think I have a snowball's chance of getting this one done by the end of the month, but one never knows. I'm going to try to find some quiet time tonight.
I love ALL of the blocks you wonderful people have posted. This is just so much fun - tons of people all working on the same project and sharing the joys and frustrations. What a great inspiration you all are.
Don't worry, Robin! (I did read your blog, btw...) I didn't start the BOM until the middle of February, but I DID catch up, and you will, too, even if you have to set May aside for awhile. It's still fairly early in the project and I found it was quite possible to get 2 blocks done in a month. It would be a worse case if you had lost your passion for quilting (and the project). Just enjoy whatever you need to work on - life is too short not to!

I notice there are two of us from Texas! We could have our own bus and pick up any of you in New Mexico on the way!

Oh, yes, Ritzy, I too love your bright colors. The white/black berries are a great accent!

I'm really hoping to join the caravan to TQS. Because of my medical problems I am still on Jan but plan to make it a priority when I can sit up again!

Awesome Ritzy! Are you pulling these fabrics from your stash or purchasing new? If stash, it must be incredible!! These brights are beautiful!

Yep, from my stash. I love brights with black and I had collected a bunch of black/white fabrics so it is pretty awesome. My needleturn BOM--I had to buy fabric for.

There's got to be a bunch of us that haven't posted yet--it would be interesting to know just how many of us are working on the BOM but haven't posted. I'm still working on the April block--when it's finished I'll post them all. Anyone in the Southern California area working on the BOM's :?:
