Yes, it appears the photo and the cutting instructions don't match. The good news is, you can choose whichever layout you prefer. If you are using the Kit, Edyta said on show 2201 there is plenty of fabric, enough for you to make at least 4 of each block. Why not make one of each layout and then decide which you prefer for the 3rd block?
Looking at the patterns again, I think it helps if you read "Print A" as "Position A". etc. All of the patterns will be written this way so it will help if you just follow the photos--or make fabric selections you like for each block.
