Just in case others have made the same mistake as I have and bought some fabrics from Bernartex' fabric line Gramercy by Kitty Yoshida. please make sure you wash the fabrics before you use them as they are very, very bad bleeders. I have only once before had to wash fabric more than 3 times to get excess colour out. These took me up to 7 washes before the colour catchers came out in a state I would consider acceptable for use in a quilt. The printing inks/dyes in these fabrics are horrendous especially the black and red both of which required a 60 degree C wash before they stopped discharging colour. Now of course all the fabrics feel like "old" fabrics .

So if you have any these fabrics in your stash don't use without pre- washing. I am so glad I always pre-wash all fabrics. I bought these fabrics because I have never before had problems with fabrics from Bernartex. I have contacted Bernartex but they have so far not had the courtesy to reply and apologise for these in my opinion sub-standard printed cottons they are selling.
