Everything sure is going up. I know I used to buy most of my backing fabrics and fabrics that I needed a large amount of when we would make our yearly trip to the US. Now it will not be as inexpensive as it used to be.

I'm not complaining --- just surprised at how quickly everything seems to be going up.... well, except for my income that is. It has made me look differently at materials. Just last month I cut up several pairs of slacks that I would have normally donated to Goodwill or Salvation Army. I'm becoming much more frugile which actually is a good thing.

That would be at the low end of the scale here in Canada too. I did hear on the news yesterday that the price of cotton is dropping! Hooray for quilters--not so good for cotton growers I guess.

Well, JoJo, if the prices keep going up and our incomes don't I can see us exchanging larger pieces of fabric, not just HSTs. The last FQ I bought here in a quilting shop cost £3 ($4.81). It'll be a long time before the US catches up with the fabric prices in some other countries.

No New Fabric for YOU!!! (okay - so I'm not very good at doing the Seinfeld episode about soup). But truly, today was my first experience with seeing regular cotton quilt fabric for $14.85 a yard. It was pretty but just normal fabric with no special colors or anything. <sigh>

I'm planning on frequently and lovingly petting my stash and will force myself to NOT look at emails from quilting stores.
