TOPIC: Suggestions for using different silks

27 Jul 2008 13:50 #22930

One of my friends made a "Turning 20" quilt using silks. Just make sure you take your time and seal the seams so the seams do not unravel. Otherwise, eventually you will have a pile of thread.

Why not try a crazy quilt. I can see it being spectacular. You might want to use a very light stablizer to give a little body. I'm kind of green with envy!!!

When living in Singapore, I bought all kinds of fabrics but with making garments, not quilts, in mind. Now I have a stash of silks: Chinese, Thai, Japanese, saris, silk organza, raw silk, brocades, etc. I really have no use for these fabrics as garments :( but they are sooooooooo beautiful. :D

Any suggestions on how to incorporate these fabrics into my quilts? Any designers who use these fabrics? Books?
