I attempted to pin the center circle into the diamond and triangle formation, but knew it just would not work for me. It was going to be too much wrangling of stiff paper backed pieces and too much fitting of curved edges. So, I unpinned all that I had pinned. I applied fusible web in short strips only 1/2 inch wide and 3 inches long to the edge of the cream circle. These overlapped slightly. Then, from the right side I marked the cream circle to be 1/2 inch wide with a light pencil mark. Next I trimmed this as neatly as I could. I removed the paper backing from the fusible web. I fused the inner circle to that diamond and triangle formation very slowly and carefully butting the cream circle just to the matching points. My fusible did not seem to beholding well, so I pinned it, too. I pinned back each point as far as I could without the points getting in the way of the sewing so that the points would be out of my way, and then blanket stitched the whole circle down using the same Rainbows thread I used on all the other applique so far. It is flatter than a pancake and looks beautiful. I am ready for March. Bring it on!
