Tada!!!! All swags have been sewn. I'm so stinking excited that I'm going to grab a bite to eat and then start sewing the units together today. Wish I could just sew them on the quilt but it appears I have several borders to do first.

Pat, there is a tremendous amount of information in Month 4, the Four-Patch Border and Swags. After December 31, 2011 the patterns became Sue's property with copyright protection. Here is the link to her website where you can buy Month 4 for $6.50. Having all the many photos and diagrams in color will be worth that small amount. Please don't ask for someone to copy that month for you if you no longer have it, that's copyright infringement. Sue's daughters are keeping her business going and I am thrilled I'll still be able to buy her patterns.

Sorry if this isn't the answer you were hoping for, but we must play fair.

Hello Barbara! I have finished the scalloped border and now want to move on to the 4 patch round, however, the instructions are not in with the rest. Can you help me out here with the dimensions? Thanks Pat

Barbara, I'm on the month 3 Scalloped Border. Did you use bias to make the lower part of the scallop? Pat

No, I didn't cut them on the bias. My applique' method for this quilt is a Turned Edge Machine Applique'. I have a tutorial about that, it shows the corner blocks but the swag borders were done the same way:

Here is a post about parts of the swag:

Second try...

Hi Pat,

I tried to submit my message but it didn't seem to take it.

I followed Margo Clabo's instructions for the scallops. Look at her page 4 of 5 to see how I made mine. After making the piping, I sandwiched it inside the scallops and used invisible thread to secure all three sections together. I really liked how it came out doing it this way.

JoJo...I'm at the Scallopped row..I've made the red piping, and am about to cut out the two green fabrics. Did you leave a 1/4 in. all around the pattern pieces? Pat

I haven't started sewing my swags together yet, but they are all cut out. I figured out the math for each added section. Sue recommended that we measure after adding each section so that we can adjust our seam as we go so that our swags end up being perfect! I really love Sue's patterns and her mind was simply amazing.

Thought this information might get you to the sewing stage and I'd have another person to sew with me!

Each completed swag unit measures 7 inches by 11 inches. There are 14 sections to each unit. You will be measuring each unit after adding the next unit.

After sewing units Combined sewn units should measure
1 & 2 | 2 inches
1 thru 3 | 2-3/4 inches
1 thru 4 | 3-1/2 inches
1 thru 5 | 4-1/4 inches
1 thru 6 | 5 inches
1 thru 7 | 5-3/4 inches
1 thru 8 | 6--1/2 inches
1 thru 9 | 7-1/4 inches
1 thru 10 | 8 inches
1 thru 11 | 8-3/4 inches
1 thru 12 | 9-1/2 inches
1 thru 13 | 10-1/4 inches
1 thru 14 | 11 inches

Reason 1280 of why not to get behind when participating in a BOM: having to cut 1280 pieces instead of just a few each month.

I'm excited to be able to sit and sew the swag border together now.
