Annis, I'm loving it! The stripe background for the swags is great! A very fun quilt!

I've posted my Christmas BOM in show and tell. I'm glad to have this month behind me. No more applique until September. That should give my fingers long enough to heal from all of that stab stitching through multiple layers! After next month I will be on my own on this quilt. The fun motifs will replace the baskets and I've added another border of them after the floaters which we aren't supposed to do until December so I will probably be doing that border in September instead. And I won't be working on the pieced swag border until everything else is done because I don't know what my dimensions are going to be. So I may get to take the summer off. That will give me more time to work on the mini which will have baskets but not as detailed as Sue's. I have the applique done on it and the strips are in the process of drying after washing out the glue. So it will be finished soon but not today. I'm hoping the corners line up when I go to miter them so I don't have to add any more details.

I am liking all of the swag borders, but I'm having to do mine different on my smaller quilts. I skipped the scalloped border on the Christmas one and just used plain swags with flowers and a circle center. It's ready to assemble before I can applique the corners as I used a striped background and they will be mitered. I decided if I get past this month everything else should be easier so I'm doing my best to stay caught up. The mini appliques are prepared and ready to glue to the background. These will be mitered also so I may have to come up with a way to cover the corner where the applique joins depending on how it looks. I used a design in EQ7 called Curved Path. What color thread do you suggest I use for this multi-colored fabric?

Diane, your quilt is awesome! Nicely done, and so quickly! I am impressed! I am still on month two, but am enjoying the lattice work! The glue stick was my friend for the first month. I used LOTS of it. Then I'll be using it again on month three. Already bought another giant stick!

Janice, I know what you mean by trying to get as much done while the weather is nasty because as soon as summer gets here, I too try to spend as much time outside as possible. Montana's summer is like your's...about 3 months long. Flyfishing is my second hobby and I find it extremely difficult to work on a quilt while standing in the middle of a river. :D I don't know how I managed to do this to myself, but I'm working on two BOMs this year along with another project and teaching a few free motion classes throughout the next couple of months. I tackle the hardest one first, which happens to be the Ruffled Roses, then on to the other BOM. When I get that one finished, the 3rd project doesn't get much attention. I know when summer arrives, I'll fall way behind...but this is a learning experience and not a race. Have fun learning everything you can...

Diane,
Your quilt looks great! I know what you mean about the glue...I had NEVER glued fabric before this BOM, and I don't think I could live without it now!

I know, however, I want to keep up with it for as long as I am able. When the nice weather comes to Minnesota, I know I will not want to be in the house sewing. I will want to be in my flower gardens. Our summers are so short here, that I try and spend every waking moment outside. I have giant gardens all over my yard, so they take up all of my time. By the end of the day, I am too tired to sew. Either that, or I fall asleep in the middle of a stitch! Grin

Janice, no one is in a race here! And I don't think anyone ever said that this was a quickie quilt!!

Enjoy the process! :D

Diane, it looks wonderful! :D I know what you mean when you say it is very labor intensive. I have been working and working on mine and I still only have three sides of the swags and flowers finished. It will certainly take me until the end of the month to finish this portion of the quilt....I am very slow.
