Wow Robin, what great pics to see first thing in the morning. You've been busy in a good way. I absolutely love your design and wouldn't change a thing. Are you planning on using Stable Stuff? That will help a lot with all of the curves. Have fun with choosing the fabrics for the leaves.

Thanks Robin! I remember the stash, now. Beautiful! (I'm so under the weather right now, I'm not even sure what my name it is!) :(

Thanks, Dawn and Janice. Dawn, the photo of some of my fabrics is forum/ruffled-roses-2011/4142-beloved-beauties-photos (bottom of page 4 of the Beloved Beauties thread), but I've ordered some more and I hope it arrives today.
Janice, I'm glad you like the design since you're the one who got me thinking about it!

Wow! Such wonderful blocks from so many talented TQSers!

Robin - How very creative! Your focus fabric is great! Where's the photo of all of fabrics that you will be using with it? I'd love to see them.

Mary - Very exquisite! I'm loving the pink and green!

Geneva - What an interesting block! I like your pine cones better than the ones in Jinny's book! It will be fun to see what other "tree" things you do!

Thank you, Judy and Margo. Good idea, Judy, about printing out full size, I'll definitely try that, and also work on that first bump. Margo, I'm planning to do each leaf in a different green, not fussy cut from the focus fabric, and I'm also going to try making the leaves out of two fabrics, so the inner part of the leaf (toward the flower) will be one green, and the outer part will be a different green (I'm not sure yet whether the lighter shade will be in on inner or outer side—that depends on the rest of the fabrics. I really like how some of the others have use dot fabric or other prints in the leaves and flowers, so I want to try that.

Wow! Robin, I like it just the way you've drawn it! I assume that you will doing the leaves out of different fabrics, and not fussy cutting the parts from the print?

Robin, I really like your interpretation of your fabric as the center square Two suggestions: 1) before committing to fabric -- print out your design full size -- the busyness you see may not be so evident or 2) alternately, you could try deleting the first bump as you come up from the base/stem of the flower and smooth that line to see if that creates a more pleasing line for you. I think this is gorgeous and am so looking forward to seeing it in fabric. Judy

Okay, JoJo, here's your chance  First image is my focus fabric, which I'll be using for the corner triangles. I've circled the leaf and the flower that I used as the starting point for my design. Second image is my design -- to this point Is it too busy? I'm concerned about the inner line of the "circle" being too busy. It's funny how good the leaf looks in the fabric, but it becomes rather strange when I traced it ...

I am sooooo enjoying seeing everyone's center square. It is amazing how many different versions I have seen. I am still working on my "sample" block that I am doing just to prove to myself that I can do applique. I took fabric from my stash, washed, starched and ironed it. My pieces are cut and I am just waiting to get my Stable Stuff to arrive and then I'll put my needle to the fabric. I am getting so excited, I just wanted you all to know how inspiring you are!

Mary, I love your block. The flowers look delicate and I love the setting triangle fabric & piping. It sets the block off wonderfully.

Bertwood, I love your block. I love the changes you made in the flowers and the vine around the heart and such. It really adds interest.

Mary,
Your block is just lovely...classic elegance. The "rose-ness" of the block really comes through with your fabric selections. I too am doing needle-turn on my block, and I'm very inspired to see your COMPLETED needle-turn block. I'm headed to the Myrtle Beach Quilt Party today, so I will have 6 glorious days of quilting, and lots of time to finish my block! :D
