TOPIC: Quilting with disabilities

Thank you Rachel and yes Eileen, as soon as there's some money coming in, I want to buy a decent chair for my studio. I did end up sitting at the sewing machine for an hour, took a half hour break and then did another hour working on my Feb BOM. So all in all I did 4 hrs total sitting (2 in upholstered chair). It got painful after that but not as painful as before. Today, I'm working on hour number 3 in the studio chair. It's not comfortable but no pain. Uncomfortable I can handle at work. Wish it were more but if this keeps up, I'll try to get cleared maybe to work part time.

I just got an interesting article from my DIL about a woman who was nearly dead from ASPARTAME POISONING from drinking diet sodas!! It presents as MS and lupus and fibro!! SCARY STUFF!!
The info is from the EPA and I don't know how true it is, but it sure made me glad that I don't drink diet sodas! It's a long article, and I won't post it here, but will be happy to forward it to anyone if you let me know you are interested.

Patti,
For future reference, look into the ergonomic office chairs for your sewing. There has to be one out there that would support the part of your back that needs it.
I have to get one because my kitchen chair I've been using for years is now too low. I can't hold my arms as high for as long as I used to be able to do.
Don't get one online-go to the store, if you can, and sit in them.
Just a thought,

I'm doing a cautious happy dance. I had my 3rd shot yesterday and so far I've been able to sit up in an upholstered chair for 2 hrs. I am just about to test sitting at the sewing machine and have fingers so crossed I may have to pry them loose to work the machine! Hoping as the weekend progresses to test sitting up enough to go back to work at least part time. Yippee (I hope!) :D

I hear you. I think that is why I keep starting more and more projects. If I stay focused on those I don't focus on the pain. There for I refus to let it win. :D Now if I could only get the lawyers and dr.'s and ins. co's to focus on me. I would be doing great. Rachel

Thanks, ladies. I didn't write that to have a pity party. I'm such a stream of consciousness person, it all just came out.
I'm waiting to hear back from Frances about biofeedback and I'm plugging along on my quilts.
Our show is in September and the cutoff for entries is August 4th. I have to get going on my quilts as well as customers'. It's hard scheduling time for my own stuff. I run out of spoons.

Eileen, Remember so many of us are here for you. You have been such a rock for me and if I can help just know I here in Southern NY. At least I am in the same state. :D I wish I was closer and that gas was cheaper. I would be there tonight. We could be each other therapist. Either that or we could down a good bottle of wine and enjoy it's numbing effects. Now I never drink so I am sure that one glass would probably do it. Remember we love ya and are praying for you Rachel

Oh Eileen I wish I could just reach right through the computer and give you the hug you desperately need. Consider yourself hugged from a distance and know you are always welcome to use us as "therepy" whenever you need.

Eileen I feel like I should get a family discount on therapists! I never would have thought it-- sounds so "hollywood"-- but I got into a BAD depression & (along w/ meds) a therapist really helped me out of it, and has helped DH & my boys as well... give it a shot & you might find it's ok... Hugs, Florence

I'm going back to PT. The pain doctor included the tendonitis in both elbows into the prescription because I told her I can't afford to pay for PT outside of the WC. She's saying the elbow thing has nothing to do with my injury or my fibro.
But the RSD can affect joints as well as skin and muscle. So, my opinion is that it is all part of my injury history.
My attorney is going for permanence instead of a settlement. That way I can keep my medical benefits.
The doctor had to write a letter saying whether she thinks I'm permanently disabled. Well, she did and in it she included my depression and said that she thinks I should have psychotherapy. Just writing this is making me tear up. I think I've been using you all as my therapy. I don't want to stop. DD read the letter and agrees with the doctor. DH thinks all I have to do is some exercise and everything will be okay. How can I tell him that now I may also have to see a therapist?
I'm at a standstill here. I don't know what to do. I think I'm going to have to wait until after we have the next hearing.
Thank you to all of you for being here for all of us that need to vent or just whine. I've found that you all mean so much to me, even though we've never met face to face.

I've been having relief of symptoms with the Mucinex, but it's important to know that I have to stay strictly away from any product containing salicylates.

 I like the idea of the fleas and the armpits :!:  if only I was a vicious person. Remind me to stay on your good side :) No I never heard of Seabuckthorne but I will look it up. I did explain to my Dr. my ins. dilema and he told me what to do withthe meds I had and gave me more of those to get me through the next couple weeks. This way hopefully the ins. situation will get straighten out. I talked to my lawyer and he said we will be setting down with bus co. in August. Thank the Lord. :!: :!: :!: Hopefully The big guy is still working for me up there. Which I am sure he is and I know because of that all will be well. Slow and steady stay the course. Right? Rachel
