Congratulations! It is a beautiful quilt! And, I can appreciate the quilting! I recently did a crosshatch, broken up by appliqué, and it is a tedious job! (I sew on a domestic machine.)

If I am remembering correctly, a person cannot even enter an IQA show, if someone else has quilted her quilt, unless it was a duo planned piece of work from the very beginning. No "quilting by hire" allowed. Or something like that. Meanwhile, I think AQS does allow it. Times are changing, with the long arm quilters getting used more and more, and the work they are doing getting better and better. I'm sure new rules and clarifications will be coming in the near future, to go along with the every changing industry!

Dawn,

Been on a quilting retreat weekend with the local guild and friends and learned a little bit about how one of the women who is a long arm quilter by profession. She said the shows aren't consistent about this situation when the quilter has been hired to do the work. I guess it is different than when two people collaborate on a quilt and make the quilt as a joint effort with one being the quilter and the other constructs the top. Congratulations. I think all people involved should be honored and I am glad that you were honored with a ribbon.

Congratulations to you both. A beautiful quilt - that's one heck of a lot of appliqué - and beautiful quilting. Glad you are both getting the award.

Valerie, a huge congratulations to you--the quilting is gorgeous! I, too, wish shows developed a standard to reward both contributors to a quilt's winning.
