For what it's worth, I had a miniature quilt accepted in 1995, which was the very first year that AQS had the category! :D
I didn't get a ribbon, but I did get to "hang with the big girls!"
And I can tell you that the caliber of miniatures that are entered today are 20 times more intricate than they were that first year!

Do you know was Robin's quilt a new one? Was it the one that was entered in Houston? I think it had Poppy Fields in the title.

Indeed you did! The miniature category was amazing, but it was under glass and impossible to photograph. We aren't supposed to post photos we took of quilts, so maybe Robin will post for us! We were really excited for her when her name was called during the awards ceremony. Go, Robin!

By the way, miniature creators, Robin Gold told me that Paducah is the ONLY big show that has a competitive category for miniatures. Bonnie Browning told us that AQS would like to see more quilts submitted. One woman had a mini in the case that had only been quilting for two years

No, no booth, just a contestant and eager quilt enthusiast!
I'll look for you.

Pat, do you have a booth? If so, what number, and if not, we hope to meet you, too!

I will be at the show all week, as I am taking classes at the museum to learn quilt appraising. I will try to get by sometime, Robin. I still remember fondly last year's wonderful visit!

Robin, your house in Paducah is just gorgeous, and I still have fond memories of your birthday cake from last year! In my book, it's one of the hidden gems of Paducah! And if the welcome mat is out, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see it again! Susan, Robin Gold and I are staying in the same hotel, so I will try to get us all there during "visiting hours". :)
