For me 'Auld Dubliners' have long beards, play and sing 'Whisky in a Jar', and come in groups of four or five. So, Rita, you would probably be - the way my younger son would put it - a 'Hot Babe from Dublin'.

Sounds like it was great fun Kath. And glad that you had a good supper at the Auld Dubliner - as I am an Auld Dubliner myself!

My sister and I went to the Long Beach Quilt Festival yesterday; it was packed! I ran into Keith and his family, saw Eleanor Burns at her booth, watched Pam Holland shooting some quilts with commentary by a friend's young daughter, met Sheila Frampton-Cooper ( or is it Cooper-Frampton?) who has done an interview on TQS (at Houston), and contributed way too much to the economic growth of the quilting industry! Oh yes, also stopped by Summer Sky Creations and met Montana Grandma's (Sherry Reynolds) brother. We have decided that we are not in physical shape to do this huge undertaking all in one day, so next year we plan to view quilts one day (maybe preview night) and shop the next day, or vice versa. We had a delicious supper at the Auld Dubliner Pub across the street from the Conv. Center and went back for the last hour to finish seeing the quilt displays. So much artistry and creativity and endless inspiration.

Thanks, Lorchen, I didn't think there was a quilt on your profile to fit that story. Both quilts are lovely. I just love hearing about how people got started quilting.

Lorchen, your quilts are both so good looking... I'd take either one home . I love the golden yellow binding on the second one in particular.

Lorchen - Both are beautiful! I'd redecorate a room if you'd make a quilt for me....

Here it is, Lois. And it's got some unintentional, impressive pleats on the back. I didn't have a clue what I was doing at the time, but I still use that quilt all the time. I gave my second quilt to US friends when we managed to meet for a few hours in London. They did not trust the airline to look after it, but took it back to the US as 'carry-on' and then re-decorated a bedroom to really show it off.

Nancy, that'll be a great way to elebrate a special birthday. My treat for my 50th in 2002 was my one and only trip to the US (4 weeks all over new England). I made my first quilt when I got back home.

I work for the Education Department and spend most of my time in our office--come say hello--I wear my TQS badge too!

I'm really looking forward to the show and will hopefully run into some of you! I'll put my TQS badge on my bag or my nametag, wherever it doesn't get in my way but is still visible. As usual, I overindulged on classes so will hopefully be able to get to all of the show, too! I sometimes take that "don't waste anything" attitude from my parents to an extreme. In this case, its the opportunities that I can't waste.... But I always make it through and get a lot out of every moment!
