I don't know that there are any general rules about photographing quilts, but you should ALWAYS ask before taking photos. Whether it's at a small show, or a large one, whether it's show quilts or vendor samples, you should always ask before taking pictures! And if you plan to post them in a blog, ask for permission to do that too!
At larger shows (like Houston) you may be allowed to photograph some, but there may also be some special displays with signs that say "No Photos". Respect that!

Have a great time at the show!

Pour l'amour du Fil, Nantes, France 15 Apr 2011 03:11 #62386

I will be attending the "Pour l'amour du Fil" quilt exposition in Nantes, France on the 27th of April. Having never attended an international quilt show before, I am quite unfamiliar with the rules and regulations of photography at these events. I would love to post some of the photos on my blog site, but I am not sure about copyright rules or even correct etiquette in this regard. I expect that photographing people would require their permission, however, what about all of the quilts that will be on display? I would appreciate advice and direction in this regard. Elizabeth
