TOPIC: If you are not in Houston right now.......

29 Oct 2008 22:46 #27679

I also bake breads, I like raison bread , pickle sour dough, wheat. I also like to make fresh blueberry bagels. I have tried cake donuts but really don't like the donut recipes I have tried. I have made home made pasta/spegetti that was Fun. I like making my own pizza dough and dressing them up- "easy recipe",there like an Angilos pizza. I have made homemade pretzels. All my recipes come from Home and Gardens recipe book. I Like alot of there recipes. I have wore this book out and need to get a new copy, the pages are falling out. I want to learn how to make pita breads, never tried them. I have done rolls. Over making all of the above its funny because making Biscuits I have never been great at.,isn't that sad.
I have been in a baking mood also, must be that time of the year.

I have two quilts in the making another tumbling block and a strip quilt but I got alittle side tracted into finishing other quilt tops for daughter Trish - 2 identical quilt tops for Cecille & Allix and friend Theresa Mom quilt- I did there quilting, then I'm making youngest Granddaughter Sydella 1 - a baby quilt. Daughter Cinda wants me to make afew embroidery fun patches for her girl scout troop-Daisys. This will be fun easy project. I 'think' after I finish the baby quilt I'll work on some fun projects before I get back to my quilts.

Worked all day--especially busy this week for some reason. I am thinking about which of my 30 or more planned quilts I should make next (in my microscopic quilting time).

I sewed the border on my winter wall hanging tonight and relived in memory our first night in Houston (one year ago today). Because we had signed up for classes we had a preview before the general public. It was so exciting. I'm so glad I have those memories to look back on. Gloria

Finishing up the final details of the guild quilt show. Everything is coming together. I have a few labels to put on my quilts.
I'm adding a blog post tonight.
DH and I went to Hartford today and saw the oldest documented quilt in the US. It's beautiful.
It's chilly here in NY so working on a quilt is a good thing!

Happy quilting!

Hi Hannelore,I've been a bread baker for about 30 years.Once the weather turns cool, its my favorite thing to do.My family loves it too!Since gardening is pretty much done for the year(I just have a few more things to whack down and some lily bulbs to dig up and move), its time to get back to sewing and cooking and reading. ..... What are you doing??

It's half-term holidays here in the UK. So I have this week off. I'm trying to find a way of mixing necessary work (cleaning, tidying, other jobs around the house) with pleasure (fondling fabrics, making notes about future project ideas, watching TQS videos,etc.).

And I have decided to do something brand-new for me: I have baked my own bread. It turned out rather well, so I took half the loaf around to my son's house, who was suitably impressed. He never thought that his Mum would shop signs of becoming a 'Domestic Goddess' (Mmmmhhh.... There must be a quilt in that phrase....)

The advantage of not being in Houston: My feet don't ache and my bank balance isn't taking a beating.
