TOPIC: Noisy sit down Tiara

Re: Noisy sit down Tiara 27 Oct 2014 15:35 #122302

I just purchased the Tiara and love it. I have found that the bobbin at times makes a jingling noise and will really be loud if the bobbin tension is too loose. I gave up a long arm with frame and down sized to the Tiara and not sorry I did so. Mine came with a beautiful Koala cabinet built especially for BabyLock, stitch regulator athough that takes some practice using it.

I don't think you can hurt these machines. Even if you hit a template & throw it out of whack, it can be re-timed. I'm not saying that I think tighter tension is the solution. You'll find if it's too tight, your thread will break. Just relax & practice lots. Have fun.

Thank you, you are kind of hitting the nail on the head. I tried tightening up my tension on both bobbin and top and it seemed to help a little. The faster I go the louder it gets. I just don't want to hurt it. It is kind of annoying. But I will relax a little more when it gets loud.

Mine is noisier than my Berninas. Sometimes, it almost seems to clank, but then I listen carefully to the Youtube videos of people demonstrating both the sit-downs & stand-up long-arms (all brands) and don't worry. Once you start looking for this, you'll see what I mean. Some people are better at masking sound with their video techniques.

Sometimes, I think it depends on how tight the top thread tension is, but this could be my imagination. It also seems to depend on how fast we go. The noise almost seems to go away the faster we go.

A drop of oil every other bobbin, or sometimes every bobbin, is all it should need.

Does anyone know if the sit down models (I have the Babylock Tiara) are typically noisy behind the take up lever? Mine is brand new, already been in the shop for a minor timing adjustment, screen freezes on the control thing, and the noise that comes from the head or inside where the take up lever is seems way too loud. If it were my Bernina I would say she was screaming for oil. But this is not the case since I am oiling plenty. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Sharon
