I use it alot the kids love them, my 2.5 year old granddaughter will fight you if you use hers, she is very protective of it.
I have not had a problem but I don`t have a long arm. Jean

I'm zeke. I have two longarms and so far I haven't had too much problem with the minki. It stretchs a little, but it worked out ok.

I haven't got a longarm, but I have opted for minky on a couple of baby quilts. When I have used it I have omitted the batting, and just used the top and the minky. The result have been very cosy but light quilts.

Linda, I hven't worked with it yet, however I think I would work with the minky as the top using my walking foot. depending on how the "backing" was pieced then perhaps I would then choose to use my quilting/darning foot. Perhaps, using a water soluble pen to mark the minky so you know your quilting would land in the appropriate place for your "backing"

I know it's all a little backwards, but I hope this helped.

I did a couple of lap quilts on the long arm with minkee backs. I love them. They are so soft. They did stretch when putting them on, but if you are careful and don't pull them they are ok. They turned out great.

I did one quilt with Minkee. It was awful working with it. I'm still finding fuzz from it, it was slippery, stretchy and the basting spray didn't help keep it from moving. It turned out to be a really cute quilt but OMG what a struggle. Now having said all that, you may not have problems on the longarm. And I would hate to discourage someone from trying it. Gloria

Sorry, I haven't used this product, but I wondered if using some basting spray very lightly between the batting and the minkee would help? As I said, I have no experience doing this - please let us know what you end up doing and if it works.

Minky fabric on the long arm 27 Sep 2008 00:06 #26565

Has anyone quilted a quilt with a minky back on the longarm? The only time I tried was for a baby quilt for my granddaughter. It stretched and didn't work very well. I have a customer quilt where she wants to use minky for the back and am wondering if anyone has been successful?
