Well a great visit and also a bit sad.

We couldn't find the first shop on the list just outside Perth but we did the second, Kraft Daze Sewing World in Maddington. Lovely little shop with all the bits you'd need and a fantastic lady running it. I didn't catch her name but I am exceedingly grateful to her for her help, advice and friendliness. She went though my list of about 20 shops scratching off most of them as they are no longer going. Very sad really. She did managed to add a few to try though and said I could call her anytime for help and she would always post over anything too. :D

The next shop was the Blue Box in Bussleton. Packed to the rafters with all things stichy. Quite heavy on the countrified stuff but, even after 3 visits, (yes my husband is a saint and he doesn't have a brother  :D ), I couldn't really find anything that I liked or couldn't have found at home. I know that may be strange but I wasn't going to waste my baggage allowance!!

We tried finding a shop in Bunbury with no success and another in Australind also closed down. :(

We left Margaret River a day early (oh those wines!!!!) to be back in Perth to spend a little more time with our son and went in search of the Country Patchwork Cottage in Balcatta just north of the city. WOW! An unassuming frontage in a block tucked away but to walk inside was so exciting!! It was a vast space hung all over with quilts, lots of fabrics and notions. A quarter or it was set up with tables and ladies were working. I later found out that this wasn't one of their workshops but one of the regular group meets. It was just nice to hear the babble of happy voices over the hum of machines again. Many thanks to Jeanmarie Adams for the welcome and congratulations on such a fabulous, light and well air conditioned shop!

Well did have to buy an extra suitcase  I have brought back quite a bit of Australasia and others and also some Jinny Beyer! I knew I'd like her fabric and I naturally gravitated towards it without knowing it was her range. I can't seem to find that here very well. I also have a few notions tucked away and threads but the biggest, and heaviest, buy was the magazines! They were all having pre Christmas offers too of buy one and get two free!

I think the outcome is, do your research before hand and phone first if necessary to avoid disappointment!

Oh Gosh yes! It looks a wonderful place too and though we'll be there at the end of the month it's still a 5 hour drive from where 'there' is.

Looks like they are going out of business. What a shame.

We're off to Perth and Margaret River in a couple of weeks and one of the first things I have done is do an online search. I have now made a list of shops in towns we are passing through and will be near and OH is more than willing to stop. :D He knows it balances with going fishing.

The only downside in searching online is you find ones to visit that are just too far away!!! The Albany Patchwork Warehouse look like a treasure chest but it's just too far!! :( http://albanypatchwork.com.au/
