Hi everyone in UK,
It won't be long now till The Festival of Quilts at the N E C, I can't wait.
I will be spending 2 whole days there YIPPEE. All those traders and wonderful quilts.
When I see those quilts I wonder why I bother especially the art quilts.
I'm practicing my free motion quilting, but it's not just the quilting it's thinking up the designs, my mind goes blank.
Ah well I enjoy what I do and some of my quilts aren't too bad.
Whoever goes to the F O Q I hope you have a great time.
It's lovely and sunny here in Surrey, at last
Enjoy your day
Anne

I spoke briefly to a mum of one of my daughter's friends last night, she teaches at the local agricultural collage and is also a farmer's wife, and she hasn't heard of Orvus Paste. I will be going to Driffield Agricultural Show next Wed. and will take printouts of the stuff and see if anyone there has heard of it, but it doesn't appear to be available in Britain.

So the next thing will be to see what we have for an equivalant product over here

Rosemary, I have seen it on Ebay UK. I googled Synthrapol UK. I am going to USA in early October. If you want me to try and get you some while I'm there let me know nearer the time. :)

Rosemary, I can't help you with locating a local source for Synthrapol, but Orvus Paste is sold around here in farmer's co-op stores, or "feed" stores.
(Alex recommended you check for "udder cream" at a feed store in her hand quilting tutorial!)

Orvus was developed for livestock because it easily rinses from their hides:

Interesting info: http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/magenta/14/id29.htm

Orvus is also packaged as Quilt Soap and sold for a much higher price in quilt shops!!

Some quilt shops will also carry Synthrapol. Maybe you can have one near you start stocking it??

Just a query - does anyone know where to get hold of Synthrapol here in UK or what our equivalent is? ditto for Orvis Paste.

Thanks

Managed to get to Malvern on Saturday. Had a great time, spent far too much but it was all so, so tempting.
As for the quilts, my two favourites had to be "In Memoriam" it was just stunning and "Song of the Earth" beautiful, both very deserving of their awards.

I can't make it to Malvern, but I'm definitely going to be in Birmingham.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I can hardly wait to move over there!! But so much to do before I go. Moving is a pain.
