You might want to use a bleached cotton batting. Unbleached cotton battings are cream colored and could make the white fabrics look dull.

A cotton batt may help minimize the visibility of the seam allowances. And a light backing fabric. Try laying the block on those options and take a photo—that will give you an idea how the finished quilt will look.

See the attached which shows the seam allowance due to the light fabric in the 16 point compass star block. Is there a way to mask the seam such as using a certain batting or quilting over the seams in a certain way? Thanks for your help, as this is my 50th Wedding anniversary quilt with the center circle from my wedding dress. Trish
