It's probably perfectly fine. I'd check the folds of the fabric to make sure there is no color differences from the rest of it and, like Nancy said, give it a wash (perhaps with some Synthrapol), and iron it maybe with a little starch first to refresh it.

I have lots of fabric in my stash that is over 20 years old. And there are a lot of antique quilts that have fabric in excellent condition. I would go for it. I'm a prewasher with all my fabrics, but I would especially prewash old fabric to make sure it's colorfast.

A friend gave me a quilt kit that contains fabric and a pattern that was purchased about 1994 or so. It has not been used and the fabrics seem to be as they were initially packaged. I'm wondering if the fabrics, being twenty years old, will still be ok to use in making this quilt. Your advice please.
