Rather than zig-zag stitch I would just use straight stitch and pretend it was SID that slipped a little bit, or maybe a few hand stitches to be less obvious.

Yes I'd do that and zig zag over it in self coloured thread.

Clara, thanks! I'm going to see if I can roll up a small piece of featherweight fusible and insert it through the defect for starters.

I am in need of the collective wisdom of the forum! My guild just finished our 2015 raffle quilt, and the member who sewed the binding on found a 3-4 mm v-shaped tear in the border near the seam to the quilt center. The usual "sew a berry over it" solution will not work here. Does anyone have a strategy for a secure but nearly invisible repair for a defect like this? The tear is to the left of the dime in the photo.




Oh, and I need it by tomorrow!!!
