I just received a package of Bella solids in precut 5 inch squares. I ordered for the same concerns you have. I have not used them yet, but when i opened the pkg, the first the i did was check the texture and weave. It seems smooth and tight. I bought them through Amazon. Good luck!

I have not used it, but Moda makes Bella Solids. I am sure you can get a true white, as they have over 100 colors. I also do not care for Kona Cottons and I do use starch to help control it.

Hi Diane, have you ever tried Westfallenstoffe fabric? It is 60" wide organic cotton. I have used it and I like it. But I wonder do you starch your fabric? It definitely helps prevent it from unravelling while piecing. Hope this helps.

Looking for better quality solid fabrics

I have been using Kona Cotton solids but am always disappointed in the quality. The edges ravel unmercifully and its does not appear to be a reasonable thread count. I have switched to Michael Miller's Jetblack for best color and quality but alas they don't have any true white. Any comments about the Northcott Colorworks Solid line? Is the white really white? Any other suggestions?

I posted this in another part of the forum but that area seems to be dead. Appreciate your suggestions.
