Make sure you use the correct needle size for sewing satin.

Hello Carole,
Thank you so much for your reply. Glad your daughter loves her quilt. I'll go ahead with the satin now after your advice. Our situation sounds similar, I live at the 700 meter level in a rainforest setting in Tasmania, Australia, retired and awaiting my new 440 QE Bernina which is in transit as I write this, can't wait to try it out especially the BSR.
Thank you once again.
Regards Gail.

I used a satin sheet backing for one of my daughter's t-shirt quilts, at her request. Yes, it does slide. She doesn't care. She really likes the way it feels to her skin and is perfectly happy with it! It was not hard to work with.

 Hello all,
I have just completed the top of a king size quilt (very colorful Kaffe Fasset fabric) and I was wondering if anyone has advice about using a satin sheet for my backing. Would I have problems with slipping etc and would cotton be preferable.
Thanks so much for any input, it would be much appreciated.
Happy quilting everyone.
