TOPIC: too much iron!

hmmmm, very tiny applique to cover the points.
the class I took has me leave the papers on the paper pieced block until the whole quilt is finished. I have never done that before. I will try the sponging and soap, it's light burn so if I can get it a little lighter, that would be nice.
thanks, Terri

My old standby, a book entitled "How to Clean Everything," by Alma Chesnut Moore, says you can try hydrogen peroxide, if it's non-washable fabric, using full strength, then rinse thoroughly with plain water. You should test for colorfastness first. If it's washable, sponge with cool water, or soak in cool water for 30 minutes or more, even overnight. Then work undiluted liquid detergent into the stain and rinse. If it remains, it requires bleach. :( But the first suggestions are worth a try, I would say.

too much iron! 05 Aug 2008 22:56 #23544

On my block in the center where the points meet, I got over zealous and kept the iron pressed on it too long. I have a slight brown appearance on the fabric. Is there anything I can do to minimize or undo this?
